Public’s assistance sought to catch Rockholds armed robber

The Whitley County Sheriff’s Department is asking for the public’s assistance to help solve an armed robbery that took place about 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 23, in the parking lot of the old Granny’s “Country Store,” which is located off KY-26 near the intersection of KY-511 in Rockholds.

The unidentified male perpetrator allegedly displayed a firearm and took an undisclosed amount of money from the victims. No one was injured during the altercation, according to a sheriff’s department release.

The store is currently closed and has been since it burnt about two years ago. The current owners are in the process of restocking and reopening as the constructions comes to a completion.

The victims are part owners of the business and were robbed while allegedly standing outside in the parking lot.

The only physical description of the perpetrator was issued by the victims as being a white male, approximately 6’0’’ tall, with a slim build, dark shoulder length hair and a moderate sized beard. He was allegedly dressed in a black t-shirt and approached and fled on foot toward KY-511, according to the release.

People that reside near the vicinity of the store are asked to check any security camera footage that they may have for the time period of 2 – 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 23.

Deputies have canvased the area interviewing residents and are asking for any home security camera footage.

“The investigation is ongoing and not all details can be released at this time to protect the integrity of the investigation and to ensure a successful prosecution should an arrest be made. We sincerely appreciate any assistance provided by the public to ensure the perpetrator is brought to justice,” the sheriff’s department wrote in the release.
