You have to go pretty far back in the record books to find the last time a Whitley County boys team defeated the Corbin Redhounds. Well, not anymore, because tonight coach Jerry Overbey’s Colonels picked up a 61-50 win over their 50th district rivals, improving them to 11-6 on the year, and making them an even 1-1 in district play.

The Redhounds fall to 11-6, and are 2-1 in the district.

Whitley outscored Corbin in three out of four quarters, excluding the second, which was 10-9 in favor of the Hounds. Colonel Corey Johnson led the game in scoring with 15 points.

In the second game of the night’s double header, played at Whitley County High School, the Lady Colonels defeated the defending region champion Corbin Lady Redhounds for the second time this season by a score of 75-59.

The Lady Hounds had a one-point 33-32 lead going into the half, but they couldn’t match the offensive production of Whitley County in the third and fourth quarters.

The win puts Whitley at 14-4 overall, and they are a perfect 4-0 in the district.
