Tourism Director talks Feb. events in Corbin

Date:

To help residents avoid cabin fever and isolation, businesses in the City of Corbin have organized a variety of activities to foster community and fun throughout the cold month of Feb.

From live music and book parties to hiking tours and unique winter sights, Feb. is packed with opportunities for both residents and tourists to get out of the house and engage with the community.

Emily Roberts, Executive Director of the Corbin Tourism and Convention Commission, described Corbin as a must-visit destination year-round, but especially during the winter, calling it “loaded and full.”

While cold temperatures can make it hard to venture outside, winter has its own unique perks. For example, the colder months at Cumberland Falls State Resort Park offer the best chance to see the famous moonbow.

“You can see the moonbow better in the winter because there’s less humidity and moisture in the air,” said Roberts. Although the Feb. dates have recently passed, upcoming March dates include March 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 30, and 31.

Roberts encourages everyone to bundle up and safely enjoy the scenic winter views.

The first Corbin Creators Fair of the year, organized by author Tonya Ridener Wood, takes place on Feb. 7 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Corbin Civic Center. Attendees can discover unique items, handmade books, and one-of-a-kind crafts while celebrating local talent for free. For more information, visit the Corbin Creators Fair Facebook page.

Georgia Blossom Books invites readers to their Galentine’s Book Party on Feb. 7 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at 1610 Cumberland Falls HWY, Unit #9. Guests will enjoy snacks and mimosas while creating mini books of their reads of 2025. Attendees should send in their 2025 reading lists ahead of time and then come ready to enjoy the experience. The cost is $50, and space is limited, so early ticket purchase is encouraged. To buy tickets, visit georgiablossombooks.com/event-details/galentines-mini-book-making-event. For more information, visit the Georgia Blossom Books website or Facebook page.

For those seeking a less traditional Valentine’s outing, Tomahawks will host “Stupid Cupid” on Feb. 13 at 9:00 p.m., featuring music from DJ Daybreak, pink lights, and axe-throwing action. For more information, visit tomahawksaxeclub.com or the Tomahawks Facebook page.

In addition to special events, Roberts noted that Corbin offers plenty for those looking to shake off cabin fever, including attractions like the Pinball Museum, Kidz Korner, Cinema Social, and more.

“Due to all our cold and snowy weather, hopefully, fingers-crossed, we are at the end of it,” said Roberts. “If people are feeling cooped up and are looking for ways to get out of the house, these events are a great opportunity to do that.”
