UC Patriots Headed to NAIA National Title Game!

Date:

Head Coach John Bland and the University of the Cumberlands Patriots football team are headed to Rome, GA to play for a national championship!

In front of a home crowd in Williamsburg, the #1 ranked Patriots defeated Carroll College Saturday afternoon in overtime, 34-27.  UC took possesion to begin the overtime period, and scored on that drive.  Carroll looked to tie the game up again on their ensuing drive, but an offensive penalty negated a touchdown pass.  Another penalty backed the Saints up even farther, and they were unable to convert on fourth down.

The NAIA national championship game will be played on Saturday, December 21.  Be sure to look in the News Journal this Wednesday, the 11th, and next Wednesday, the 18th, for more details on today’s big win, as well as more information regarding the championship game in two weeks.
