University of the Cumberlands hosting Tuesday (Feb. 4) blood drive

Date:

Kentucky Blood Center (KBC) loves its Kentucky blood donors, and the nonprofit needs them this February to boost the winter blood supply.

Winter weather and illnesses have had an impact on KBC’s blood supply in 2025. As the blood provider for more than 70 hospitals in Kentucky, local patients rely on a healthy blood supply for everything from traumas to cancer treatments, surgeries, diseases, organ transplants and more.

All registered donors at this upcoming drive will receive an “I Love KY Blood Donors” long-sleeve shirt (while supplies last). In addition, all donors will receive a $5 Starbucks gift card.

Kentuckians can support the fight against cancer and help patients in their community by donating blood at a Kentucky Blood Center (KBC) drive in Williamsburg next week.

The University of the Cumberlands will host a blood drive on Tuesday, Feb. 4, from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. at the KBC Bloodmobile, which will be located in the Wellness Parking Lot at the Boswell Building at 7327 College Station Drive.

The blood donation process is easy and has a major impact on the community. Whole blood donations take less than an hour from registration to refreshment. One donation can save up to three local lives.

Blood collected will save the lives of patients in Kentucky, who require products for surgeries, diseases like cancer, traumas, organ transplants, premature births and more.

Blood donors must be at least 17 years old (16 with parental consent), weigh at least 110 pounds, be in general good health, show a photo I.D. and meet additional requirements. Sixteen-year-old donors must have a signed parental permission slip, which can be found at kybloodcenter.org.

Appointments are preferred but walk-ins are welcome. To schedule a donation, visit kybloodcenter.org or call (800) 775-2522.

KBC is the largest independent, full-service, nonprofit blood center in Kentucky, and has been saving local lives since 1968. KBC provides services in 90 Kentucky counties and has donor centers in Lexington, Louisville, Frankfort, Pikeville, Somerset and the Tri-County area (Corbin).
