Up to 61 employees facing layoff at Corbin CSC plant

Date:

Six-one employees at Computer Sciences Corporation’s Corbin facility have been put on notice that they could be layed off from work.

Officials at the company told WYMT the company has reached the end of a contract on which the Corbin facility works through the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services.

"We cannot comment on an ongoing procurement and can make no guesses as to its outcome," Michelle Sicola Herd, communications and marketing senior manager for the company," told WYMT’s Ashley Reynolds. "Although we are hopeful of retaining this work, we have advised our staff of the recompete and the possible ramifications if we do not win."

Company officials have notified the Kentucky Office of Employment and Training about the possible layoffs. If any of the layoffs occurred, office employees could help the affected workers file for unemployment benefits and in their search for new jobs.
