Volunteers celebrate dedication, service at annual banquet

Date:

The spirit of giving took center stage as Baptist Health Corbin recently honored its exceptional volunteers at a banquet held in celebration of National Volunteer Week. The afternoon was filled with gratitude, recognition, and heartfelt appreciation for those who make a lasting impact every day.

Baptist Health Corbin has named Florence Major as its Volunteer of the Year.

Baptist Health Corbin President Angelia Foster kicked off the event with a message of thanks, highlighting the invaluable contributions of the volunteer team. Sherrie Mays, VP and CNO, along with LeAnn Jones, Executive Director of Oncology Services & Market Development, also expressed their deep admiration for the volunteers’ unwavering commitment to the hospital’s mission and the community it serves.

A highlight of the event was the presentation by Debbie Hardin, Director of Volunteer Services, and Becky Stewart, Volunteer Assistant, who presented gifts and certificates acknowledging each volunteer’s dedication, including the total hours worked – a true testament to their hard work and heart.

The pinnacle came when Flo Major received the Volunteer of the Year Award. This prestigious honor recognized Major’s exceptional hours of service, her efforts in fundraising, and her tireless dedication to her role.

“Thank you, Flo for your outstanding contributions,” Baptist Health Corbin wrote in a release.

During the event, Milly Burkhart was installed as the new president of our volunteer group. Burkhart’s passion for service and her unwavering commitment to our hospital make her the perfect leader to guide our volunteers toward even greater success in the coming year.

Major stepped into the role of Vice President, bringing her wealth of experience and dedication to the position. Her leadership and deep understanding of the hospital’s mission will undoubtedly help shape the future of our volunteer program.

In the position of Secretary/Treasurer, the hospital welcomed Theresa Hopper, whose attention to detail and organizational skills will be invaluable in keeping our operations running smoothly. Hopper’s dedication to supporting the hospital’s cause makes her a perfect fit for this vital role.

Finally, Stanley Clapp was re-appointed as the Historian. With a keen eye for detail and a passion for preserving our story, Clapp will document and share the rich history of the hospital’s volunteers, ensuring that their legacy is celebrated for years to come.

“We are beyond excited to have such a dedicated group of officers leading our volunteer team, and we know their combined efforts will make a profound impact on Baptist Health Corbin and the community we serve,” the hospital wrote in a release. “Congratulations to Milly, Flo, Theresa, and Stanly! We look forward to a year of growth, service, and community-building under your leadership. Thank you for all that you do!”
