W’burg MAP scores show improvement

Date:

Director of Innovative Learning Josh Patrick updated the Williamsburg Board of Education on student achievement during the winter MAP testing period.

“We just had major gains due to the efforts of our students and emphasis on instruction,” said Patrick.

In reading, 11 out of 12 grade levels increased the percentage of students performing at or above grade level from fall to winter. Five grade levels achieved gains of 10 percent or more.

In math, nine out of 12 grade levels increased the percentage of students performing at or above grade level. Eleven grade levels reduced the number of novice scores in math, with one grade level decreasing novice performance by 16 percent.

“We are beyond proud,” said Superintendent Tabetha Housekeeper. “What this shows me is that the work we’ve been doing is sticking. We’re aligned and we’ve got resources in place.”
