Whitley Co. heads to Harlan Co. in search of first win

Date:

The Whitley County Colonels will head back on the road Friday night to Harlan County still seeking the first win of the Coach Zeke Eier era and some redemption following the 45-0 loss to Corbin.

The Colonels’ offense was held to 140 total yards, turning the ball over three times as the Redhounds built a 32-0 halftime lead.

Caden Petrey completed five of 11 passes for 59 yards.

Caden Rose had 11 rushes for 37 yards and Mason Croley ran the ball six times for 23 yards.

The class 4A Black Bears are 1-1 on the season, defeating South Laurel in the opener, 59-26 and losing last Friday at Hazard, 48-24.

Harlan County will attempt to run the ball using the running back tandem of Demarco Hopkins and Adam Carr.

Eier said previously that the Colonels want to play tough, hardnosed football for four quarters.

“We are trying to establish the run and throw it when we want,” Eier said when asked about what he wants to see from the Colonels over the course of the season.

Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
