Pioneer Bowl

Date:

When the 2009 Pioneer Bowl is played at Knox Central High School August 21, it will have a new sponsor, Forcht Bank of Barbourville.

Branch Manager Tim Davis, “We want to be involved with local community and being involved with the local school system is one important way of showing the community that you are going to be involved with their children.”

“Coach (David) Mitchell and Coach (Wayne) Mills approached me about the sponsoring the Pioneer Bowl and I thought it was a great opportunity to be involved with the community and to show our support to the school system,” said Davis. “Knox Central and Lynn Camp are part of the Knox County schools and we wanted to be active in the school system, supporting both schools as much as we can.”

“We are glad to be a part of the bowl,” said Davis. “We are happy to be a part of it, it has been a successful tradition for the last three years, it will be the fourth annual bowl and we excited to be a part of it.”

The bowl will be played Friday, August 21 with the Lynn Camp Wildcats of Coach David Mitchell taking on the Clay County Tigers at 6 p.m., followed by the Knox Central Panthers and Somerset Briar Jumpers.

The four head coaches were present for a press conference. Check out the News Journal Wednesday to see what they had to say about their teams.
