Update: Fire destroys century old building in Jellico

Firefighters spent several hours battling this structure fire Monday on the Kentucky side of Jellico less than 100 feet from the state line.

Emergency officials think a blaze, which destroyed a century old building on the Kentucky side of Jellico Monday morning, was intentionally set.

“The building is a total loss but I don’t have an estimated value at this time,” said South Whitley Volunteer Fire Chief Wayne Honeycutt. “We’ve notified state police and the state fire marshal’s office both.”
