West Knox Firefighters say a Gray area home is a total loss following a Tuesday morning fire.

Firefighters were called to the scene on Doctor Jones Road, which is off off of south Ky. 233, at 7:24 a.m.

“It was fully involved,” said Assistant Chief Chad Jackson of the single-story home when firefighters arrived.

In addition to West Knox, Jackson said Bailey Switch Fire Department was dispatched to provide engines, tankers and manpower, while Corbin Fire Department was paged for manpower.

Jackson said the owner had managed to corral his pets and get out of the home with them safely.

Firefighters made entry into the rear of the home and Jackson said they had the flames knocked down within 15 minutes.

“Due to the roof coming in, we did a defensive attack,” Jackson said.

Firefighters were on scene until 9:15 a.m. conducting salvage and overhaul.

Jackson said the cause of the fire is undetermined, but there is nothing to suspect arson.
