BREAKING NEWS: State Police investigating break-in at Whitley Sheriff’s office

Date:

State and federal authorities are investigating an apparent break-in at the Whitley County Sheriff’s Department office that happened over the weekend.

Whitley County Sheriff Lawrence Hodge said the main office, located in the Whitley County Courthouse, was broken into by thieves some time early Monday morning. The culprits appeared to have gained entry by forcing their way through the main entryway.

The break-in was discovered Monday morning by Sheriff’s Department office staff. Kentucky State Police were immediately notified. KSP Detective Billy Correll is investigating.

Authorities aren’t exactly sure what was taken from the office, but Hodge said he suspects drugs and firearms were stolen.
Anyone with information regarding this crime is encouraged to call Kentucky State Police at 800-222-5555, or the Whitley County Sheriff’s Department at 549-6006.

Hodge told the News Journal he plans to offer a reward for information that leads to the arrest conviction of those responsible for the burglary.
