Busy Bees Homemakers deliver handmade pillows to cancer patients

The Busy Bees Homemakers Club donated contour pillows to breast cancer patients at Baptist Health Corbin recently

Recently, the Busy Bees Homemakers Club of Whitley County made a special delivery to cancer patients who are currently being treated at Baptist Health Corbin. As part of an ongoing effort, the Busy Bees have provided contoured comfort pillows to patients at the hospital, which is just the latest community service project that the group has undertaken.

In the past, the Busy Bees have partnered with BHC to provide newborn babies with items such as handmade blankets and burp cloths. They also recently helped the Whitley County 4-H youth sewing club with making travel pillows for surgery patients.

The Busy Bees Homemakers Club meets regularly at the Whitley County Cooperative Extension Office in Goldbug. Club members are currently selling raffle tickets for a quilt (shown in the photo) that will be given out at the conclusion of this week’s Old Fashioned Trading Days festival in downtown Williamsburg. Tickets will be sold for $1 each at the festival with all proceeds going to help fund future charity projects.

The Busy Bee Homemakers Club members are: Mary Morrison, Emily Meadors, Wanda Rains, Wanda Cornelius, Cherrie Lynn, Gail Castle, Carolyn Falin, Thelma Hilbert, Marlene Logan, David Heamstead, Judy Heamstead, Patsy Lawson, Diana Chambers, Betty Day and Colleen Brummett.

The club is open to new members, and invites anyone interested to reach out and get more information on how to join.
