London Mayor Randall Weddle indicted by Laurel Co. Grand Jury

A Laurel County Grand Jury indicted London Mayor Randall Lenn Weddle Tuesday on four counts of excessive campaign contributions. According to officials with the Kentucky Attorney General’s Office, Weddle is facing two counts of campaign contribution restriction/expenditure limits for reportedly contributing more than $2,000, indexed for inflation, to the Andy Beshear for Governor campaign during one election. The grand jury indicted Weddle on two additional counts of campaign contribution restriction/expenditure limits after he reportedly contributed more than $5,000 to the Kentucky Democratic Party in one year. Foley honored for 24 years of service

The Whitley County Sheriff’s Department recently honored long-time deputy Dennis Foley, who is leaving the department after 24 years of service.

McCullah appointed as new constable

Residents in Whitley County’s First District now have a new constable. Incumbent First-District Constable Lonnie Foley, who was unopposed in his bid for re-election, died on Jan. 24. Monday afternoon, Whitley County Judge-Executive Pat White Jr. appointed Timothy McCullah to fill out the remainder of Foley’s current term in office, which expires at midnight on Dec. 31, 2026. Thursday evening, the Whitley County Republican Party Executive Committee unanimously chose McCullah as its nominee to be first-district constable. White pledged previously to appoint whoever the Republican nominee was as the replacement to fill out the remainder of Foley’s term in office so there would be continuity. Corbin Redhounds hire familiar face as girls basketball coach

Corbin High School basketball coach Tony Pietrowski is taking on a new role with the Redhounds. Corbin Redhounds Athletics announced he will take over the girls basketball program. Pietrowski has spent 25 seasons with the boys team. During his tenure, he compiled 528 career wins. Pietrowski spent two seasons coaching middle school girls basketball while his daughter, Lynnlee, played for the team. Lynnlee will be a freshman this fall. Corbin Lady Redhounds basketball coach steps down

Corbin Lady Redhounds Basketball Head Coach Isaac Wilson is stepping down, according to a social media post by Corbin Redhounds Athletics. Wilson led the team for nine seasons and had a 156-110 record. While at the helm, the Lady Redhounds won a 13th Region Championship in 2022, two 50th District titles in 2023 and 2024, and back-to-back WYMT Food City Mountain Basketball Classic championships in 2022 and 2023. Williamsburg Mayor Roddy Harrison was the recent guest speaker at the Southern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce membership luncheon. W’burg mayor named keynote speaker

Williamsburg Mayor Roddy Harrison will be the keynote speaker during the Southern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce’s monthly membership luncheon on Tuesday, March 10. The luncheon will be held at the Williamsburg Tourism and Convention Center. The luncheon is slated to take place from 11:45 a.m. – 1 p.m. The cost to attend the luncheon is $15 per person. Rotary Club hears from Corbin Senior Citizens Center director

Corbin Senior Citizen Center Director Amber Case was the guest speaker at the Feb. 26 Rotary Club meeting. Case took on the role of director in 2023. Case discussed the center’s meal programs, in-home services and social activities for local seniors.

Justin Moore thrills crowd at the Arena

Justin Moore took the stage with his vocals and guitar on Feb. 21 at The Corbin Arena. Moore is best known for his hits “You, Me, and Whiskey” and “Small Town USA.” This was not the first time he has stopped in Corbin. He performed at the arena in 2023.
