W’burg mayor named keynote speaker

Williamsburg Mayor Roddy Harrison will be the keynote speaker during the Southern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce’s monthly membership luncheon on Tuesday, March 10. The luncheon will be held at the Williamsburg Tourism and Convention Center. The luncheon is slated to take place from 11:45 a.m. – 1 p.m. The cost to attend the luncheon is $15 per person. Rotary Club hears from Corbin Senior Citizens Center director

Corbin Senior Citizen Center Director Amber Case was the guest speaker at the Feb. 26 Rotary Club meeting. Case took on the role of director in 2023. Case discussed the center’s meal programs, in-home services and social activities for local seniors.

Justin Moore thrills crowd at the Arena

Justin Moore took the stage with his vocals and guitar on Feb. 21 at The Corbin Arena. Moore is best known for his hits “You, Me, and Whiskey” and “Small Town USA.” This was not the first time he has stopped in Corbin. He performed at the arena in 2023.

Corner releases name of person who died after Firestone incident

Whitley County Coroner Andy Croley has identified the victim who died after an incident at the Williamsburg Firestone Industrial Products Plant. Croley said Jack Henson, 51, of Corbin, died from injuries he sustained while at the plant. Henson was pronounced dead at 11:38 a.m. on Wednesday. Country music artist returns to Corbin

Country artist Justin Moore is set to take the stage at Corbin Arena on Saturday performing fan favorites like “You, Me, and Whiskey,” “Small Town USA,” and “If Heaven Wasn’t So Far Away,” as well as tracks from his latest album, ‘This Is My Dirt.’ Before he began recording music in the studio, Moore said he grew up in a small, blue-collar town in Arkansas with a population of approximately 300 people. One person dies Wednesday morning after accident at Williamsburg Firestone Industrial Products

One person died at the Williamsburg Firestone Industrial Products Plant Wednesday morning. “A 51-year-old male, who was operating a forklift, died due to injuries (he sustained) while working at Firestone,” said Whitley County Coroner Andy Croley. Croley said that he is withholding the identity of the man until next of kin have been notified. Croley said he first received the call at 11:08 a.m., and pronounced the victim deceased at 11:38 a.m. Croley said that he won’t have an official cause and manner of death until after the autopsy, which is set to be performed Thursday morning at the Kentucky Medical Examiner’s Office. 82nd District Rep. Nick Wilson has filed a bill that he hopes will lead to more consideration for parents who find themselves in trouble with the law. House Bill 464, also known as the Family Preservation and Accountability Act, was filed on Jan. 21 with Wilson as the primary sponsor. 28th District Rep. Jared Bauman (R) and 2nd District Rep. Kim Holloway (R) are serving as co-sponsors.
