When children attending Soggy Bottoms Too daycare showed up Monday morning, an unpleasant site welcomed them. Their playground equipment was gone.
Soggy Bottoms Too Owner Frances Woods said that many of the children thought the playground equipment had been "blown away."
"Kids love to be outside. When a kid looks at you and they have tears in their eyes because there is nothing to play with. It is hurtful," Woods noted.
It wasn't wind that took the equipment but rather thieves, who struck Saturday afternoon.

A Whitley County Sheriff's deputy is currently on leave due to an emergency protective order that was filed against him earlier this month by his ex-girlfriend. The ex-girlfriend, who is a 911 dispatcher, is currently on leave from her job pending the resolution of a felony criminal case which was filed against her the day after she took out the EPO against her ex-boyfriend.
Courtney Rae Morgan, who is a 911 dispatcher, requested the emergency protective order on July 14 against Kirk Evan Mays, a sergeant in the Whitley County Sheriff's Department.

A Knox County duo was arrested Tuesday morning after police say they attempted to pass a counterfeit $20 bill at two different Corbin businesses.
Corbin Police arrested Savannah Davis of Cannon and Steven Monday of Woodbine about 4 a.m. at the McDonald’s on Falls Highway after they allegedly attempted to pass the bill there.
Corbin Police Major Rob Jones, the department’s public affairs officer, said the duo had allegedly attempted to use the bill at Speedway gas station earlier.
“She didn’t know it was bad the first time,” Jones said of Davis. “She knew it was bad the second time for sure.”
Jones said the bill appeared to have been washed numerous times.

Laurel County Sheriff’s deputies are searching for a suspect in a strong-armed robbery that occurred about noon in southeastern Laurel County.
Deputy Gilbert Acciardo, the department’s public affairs officer, said deputies were called to a location at the intersection of Ky. 233 and Ky. 1223 near the Laurel/Knox County line in response to a complaint about the robbery.
The victim reportedly told deputies that the perpetrator had taken and undisclosed amount of money and then fled the scene in a vehicle.
While the make and model is unknown, Acciardo said the vehicle is reportedly blue in color with one of the doors painted red.

A north Corbin husband and wife are each facing a felony assault charge stemming from a domestic dispute involving a knife Sunday morning.
According to Laurel County Sheriff John Root, Deputy Shawn Boroviak arrested 43-year-old Timothy Huff and 40-year-old Mary Huff, charging each with one count of second-degree assault – domestic violence.
Boroviak was called to the couple’s residence on Tom Town Hollow Road off of U.S. 25W about 7:40 a.m. where he reportedly found both individuals suffering from cuts.

A Woodbine man is facing charges of attempted murder and wanton endangerment after police say a gun discharged as he and his wife struggled for possession it Friday morning.
Fifty-three-year-old Bryan Dwayne Karr was arrested just after 10 a.m. at the couple’s residence on Perkins Street near the General Shale Brick site.
Sheriff Colan Harrell said Karr and his wife had been arguing and at some point, the .45-caliber semi-automatic handgun came into play.
“He pointed the gun at his head and then pointed it at her,” Harrell said. “She grabbed the gun and got her hand around it.”

Corbin Police are asking for the public’s help to find a man who was seen peeking into cars at a local church and may be involved in a series of thefts.
Corbin Police Detective Rusty Hedrick said the individual is described as a white male, 5’7” to 5”8, with a thin build and balding hair.

A Corbin man accused of plotting to kidnap his infant nephew and hold him for a $50,000 ransom was indicted Monday in Whitley Circuit Court.
Forty-nine-year-old Doyle Fox was indicted on one count of criminal solicitation to commit kidnapping stemming from the alleged incident on April 21.
According to the indictment, Fox allegedly solicited Samuel Hatfield to participate in kidnapping the child for the purpose of obtaining a ransom from the child’s mother, who is a bank officer in Lexington.

A Whitley County grand jury has indicted three Corbin residents in connection with several motorcycles that were reported stolen from a Corbin business.
Thirty-three-year-old Terry W. Mullis, 25-year-old Franklin A. Parks and 24-year-old Harry Castle were each indicted Monday in Whitley Circuit Court on charges of receiving stolen property.
