Corbin Public Library annex building officially dedicated

February proclaimed as Corbin’s Heart Health Month

On Feb. 14, Corbin Mayor Suzie Razmus signed a proclamation at Baptist Health Corbin proclaiming the month of February as Corbin’s Heart Health Month. Hospital personnel joined Razmus at the signing, including BHC President Angelia Foster. February is recognized as Heart Health Awareness Month, with heart disease remaining as the leading cause of death worldwide. The City of Corbin and BHC encourages all residents to take proactive steps to improve heart health through education, awareness and community engagement.

New farm-to-table restaurant, The Hunt and The Harvest, scheduled to open in downtown Williamsburg this spring

Downtown Williamsburg will soon have another local eatery for area residents to enjoy. The Hunt and The Harvest, jointly owned and operated by Adam Howard and Nick Bishop, sits nestled along historic downtown’s Main Street, situated inside what many locals will remember as the old Merry’s Flowers building. The restaurant, currently expected to be open for business by sometime this April, will offer a locally-sourced, farm-to-table style menu, as well as a wide range of seasonal cocktails, draft beer and wine. City of Corbin seeking $9.9 million in road improvement grant funds

The Corbin City Commission is seeking $9.9 million in federal grant money to make Corbin streets just a bit safer, but it is unclear whether the federal program they are seeking the funds through will continue with a new presidential administration now in Washington D.C. During its regular monthly meeting Monday, the city commission authorized Mayor Suzie Razmus to sign any and all documents relating to the application for the Rebuilding American Infrastructure with Sustainability and Equity (RAISE) Transportation Discretionary Grant program. Tractor trailer fire snares traffic near Exit 15 early Friday morning

Aerial photography by TIMOTHY WYATT Traffic was snared for several hours early Friday morning along I75 between Exit 15 and Exit 11 due to a tractor trailer that had caught fire. Goldbug Fire Rescue issued a notice on their social media page just before 7 a.m. regarding the fire, which required a reduction of traffic to one lane. Traffic was also being rerouted through Williamsburg at Exit 15. The scene was not cleared until after 10:30 a.m.

No more empty stockings… Corbin Rotary Club hosts annual gift giveaway

Thanks to the efforts of the Rotary Club of Corbin and the Southeast Kentucky Empty Stocking Fund, over 600 children got a merrier Christmas this year than they might not have gotten otherwise. The 37th Annual Empty Stocking Fund party was held on Saturday at Immanuel Baptist Church. The Christmas present wrapping party took place on Friday evening at the church with numerous volunteers wrapping one present for every child. Little Caesars donated pizza for those, who came to help and also pizza for attendees of Saturday’s party.
