The Fine Arts Association of Southeastern Kentucky, Inc. presented The Barter Players’ production of Alice in Wonderland to Corbin Middle School on March 28.
The Barter Players, based out of Barter Theatre in Abingdon, Virginia, take their shows across the country, bringing live performances to people who may not otherwise have access to them.
“For Alice in Wonderland, we’ve gone as far as here in Kentucky, Ohio and Wisconsin,” said Stage Manager Sydney Sutherland.
Sutherland noted that the cast rehearsed the production for just ten days before taking it on tour. Each actor has an additional tour job to help keep the group organized on the road.

Last Thursday, Forcht Bank and the Knox County Sheriff’s Department partnered together to provide 33 area children with Christmas memories they will not soon forget.
The day began with a trip to Barbourville Wal-Mart, where each child was able to pick out clothing and toys with help from Forcht employees, Sheriff Mike Smith, and his deputies.
The group was then treated to a special lunch at the Forcht Bank branch in downtown Barbourville. Santa Claus made a special appearance, and kids were given gift bags courtesy of Forcht Bank.
Before leaving, each child received a brand new bicycle.
Christmas at the Falls
Cumberland Falls State Resort Park hosted a free Winter Wonderland event. Several vendors were set up in case visitors wanted to do some Christmas shopping, and the visitor’s center was decorated like the North Pole.
The event also featured live animals, a special sale on items in the gift shop, hot chocolate provided by Parkway Ministries, special activities courtesy of the Corbin Public Library, and of course, an appearance by Santa Claus himself.

Corbin Elementary fourth and fifth grade students race through clouds of color during the school’s 3rd Annual Color Run on Friday at Cima Soccer Field at Corbin Primary School. Volunteers and educators lined the loop tossing colors as students made their way around.
The Corbin Public Library hosted its Ghost Tour last weekend, featuring the tour itself, games, painting, fortune-teller Madam Esmeralda, trivia, and a magic show. Thanks to Corbin Public Library for a fun event!
The Corbin High School marching band competed at Quarterfinals in Class 2A at South Laurel High School this past Saturday. Congratulations to the Corbin HS marching Redhounds on a fantastic season.
2025 marks 32 years of Jeep Jamboree in Williamsburg, and this year’s event was another big one. 325 people traveling from 28 different states took a total of 252 Jeeps on a trail ride in the local area.

The final Cumberland Valley Cruise-In of the season took place Saturday along Main Street in downtown Corbin along with the town's annual Octoberfest celebration, which featured a petting zoo, face painting, and Mayberry Tribute Artist Georgia Branam.
And they’re off! The 2025 racing season kicked off over the weekend at The Mint – Cumberland Run, located at 777 Winners Lane in Corbin. A large group of race fans showed up to cheer on the world-class drivers while placing bets and enjoying the picture-perfect weather.
