In 2015, Cauz-N-Ruckus battled their way to a 42nd Annual Woodbine Rebels Softball Shootout championship.
In 2016, many of the Ruckus players returned to Corbin’s Miller Park as members of the team Mar-Kel, going undefeated to secure the tournament’s 43rd championship crown.
Now Ruckus is once again finding themselves back on top of the men’s softball mountain after taking home the championship trophy of the 44th Annual Rebels Shootout this past weekend.
Ruckus, which features several players from the tri-county area, won all of their games between Friday and Sunday afternoon to become champions of the winners bracket. They defeated Short Construction out of Louisville in the quarterfinals Saturday evening, and ended...

The Tri-County Sports Authority is gearing up for another exciting youth football season in 2017.
Things got kicked off in a big way this past Monday with the annual TCSA camp, held at Corbin High School. The one-day camp is hosted each year by the Redhounds football team, and this year’s event saw around 100 kids participating. In addition to getting the chance to win awards in punt, pass, kick and racing competitions, all campers had the opportunity to sign up to be a part of the upcoming fall season.
“We’ve seen an increase every year,” TCSA President Chad Estep said of recent participation in the camp. “Kids get an hour-and-a-half...

There are no coverage area high school baseball or softball teams left standing after Monday’s first round games in the 2017 13th Region tournaments.
In the softball tournament, held at South Laurel High School, the Corbin Lady Hounds kicked things off Monday with a game at noon against the North Laurel Lady Jaguars. After a three-run top of the second inning, a solo home run from Emily Sizemore in the top of the fourth and a one-run top of the fifth, the Jags looked as if they might be able to end Corbin’s 2017 season with a shutout loss. The Hounds prevented that, however, with sophomore Harleigh Grubb smacking an...

“Softball has just been a really big part of my life,” said Daniel, and 18-year-old infielder. “It has helped me to develop into the person I am. I’ve met a lot of really great people, and being a part...
