The following is some important information pertaining to this weekend's First Priority Volleyball Classic...
DATES: Friday, September 16 and Saturday, September 17.
LOCATIONS: Whitley County High School, Middle School and Intermediate School gymnasiums.
NUMBER OF MATCHES and SCORING: All teams will get a minimum of five matches. Each match will be best of three sets. The first two sets will be to 25, win by two (no cap). The third set will be first to 15, win by two (also no cap).
TIE BREAKING/SEEDING: There will be two phases of the classic - pool play and tournament play. There are three pools of five teams. Each team will play the other four teams...

The Corbin boys soccer team came into Tuesday’s game at North Laurel looking to pick up their second win over a district opponent this year after defeating Whitley County 2-0 back on August 29.

The Lynn Camp Wildcats improved to 2-1 on the season last Friday night with a very convincing 49-28 win over the visiting Jackson County Generals on Alumni Night.

On Thursday, Angela Singleton (formerly Angela Steuer) was named as the newest head coach of the Whitley County Lady Colonels softball program.
Singleton, a seventh grade math teacher at Whitley County Middle School, served as an assistant on the Lady Colonels’ staff during the 2016 season. She is a graduate of the University of the Cumberlands, where she pitched and played right field for the Patriots from 2008-2012. She served one year as a graduate assistant at UC prior to beginning work in the Whitley County school system. She is originally from Miamisburg, OH where she played high school and travel ball.

I have seen Kelly Bryant in action at Whitley County athletic contests more times than I can count. It is a safe bet that a good portion of the folks reading this column already know who she is, but just in case you don’t, she is the much beloved athletic trainer for Whitley County Schools.
Actually, Bryant’s official job title is "Training Room Coordinator." In addition to those duties, she also teaches physical education and health at Whitley. As a trainer, it is her job to administer safety and first aid to athletes in all sports....
