Corbin/Laurel Lake KOA gets new owners

Date:

Kampgrounds of America, Inc. has announced that Dave and Heather Jones have taken over as the new owners of the Corbin/Laurel Lake KOA Journey.

After several years of full-time RVing, the Jones family brings a unique and well-rounded perspective to campground ownership, equipping them with invaluable experience in outdoor hospitality. Their passion for camping and commitment to excellent customer service make them ideal new owners for this beloved Kentucky campground, a KOA release noted.

The Corbin/Laurel Lake KOA Journey, nestled in a picturesque wooded hilltop setting, offers shaded campsites beneath a canopy of mature trees. It is the closest campground to Laurel Lake and the renowned Cumberland Falls State Resort Park, which is home to the famous “moonbow.” The campground has been a favored camping destination for years, offering a lovely balance of natural landscapes and modern amenities.
“We’re thrilled to begin this journey as the new owners of the Corbin/Laurel Lake KOA Journey,” said Dave Jones. “As seasoned RVers, we know what it takes to create a great camping experience, and we’re excited to offer our campers upgraded facilities and new amenities designed to enhance their stays. From updated playgrounds and fresh landscaping to new patio sites, we’re committed to creating a welcoming, family-friendly environment.”
The Jones family has already begun implementing upgrades, including refreshing the cabins with many repairs, such as new decks, doors, lights, windows and stain. In addition, upgrades will include leveling the playground and adding eco-friendly mulch, installing a jump pad, and enlarging several sites with patios and paw pens. Additionally, a gem mining water feature will debut in February, and new picnic tables, fire pits, and upgraded patio furniture are on the way. Campers will also enjoy a newly added horseshoe pit, corn hole area, and extensive landscaping enhancements.

Campgrounds have a significant economic and cultural impact on local communities.

According to KOA’s annual Camping and Outdoor Hospitality Report, the average camper spends $156 daily while camping. With 30 percent of campers saying they are interested in visiting small towns, and another 30 percent drawn to food tourism, campers are looking to experience the culture of local regions.

The Corbin/Laurel Lake KOA Journey offers a range of amenities to enhance guests’ camping experience. These include a swimming pool, high-speed Wi-Fi, a communal camping kitchen, bike rentals, and a playground. The campground also features big-rig friendly pull-thru RV sites, accommodating RVs up to 80 feet in length.

The Corbin/Laurel Lake KOA Journey is one of more than 500 open-to-the-public KOA campgrounds in the U.S. and Canada.

Located at 171 East City Dam Road in Corbin, the campground is open year-round.
