ll of the presents have been opened, the eggnog drunk, A Christmas Story has played on TV 100 times and Santa has parked his sleigh back at the North Pole. Now it’s time again for basketball!
Specifically, it’s time again for the Annual Cumberland Falls Invitational Tournament at Corbin High School.
This Friday-through-Monday, the Redhounds will host five other teams who will all be vying for the right to call themselves 2024 CFIT champions. Being split into two pools, group A will feature Corbin, Lynn Camp and Little Miami out of Ohio while group B will consist of Bell County, Richmond Model and the Somerset Briar Jumpers.
The action gets underway Friday, Dec. 27, with Model taking on Somerset at 6 p.m. Following that game, the host Redhounds will play Lynn Camp. The last time that these two teams met up, on Dec. 9, the Hounds ran away with a 96-35 win over the Wildcats.
On Saturday, Lynn Camp will take on Little Miami at 6 p.m. The Panthers competed at a high level against some of their region’s top teams last season, finishing at 17-8 and picking a couple of wins in the early rounds of the Ohio High School Athletic Association state tournament.
Somerset and Bell County will square off in the nightcap Saturday, but in between contests the annual dunk competition will be featured.
Corbin will get a crack at Little Miami Sunday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. That will be followed by the annual three-point contest, and then Model will face Bell County at approximately 4:45 p.m.
Championship Monday will tip off at 5:30 p.m., with the third place teams in both pools squaring off for fifth place overall honors. This year’s third place finisher will then get determined when the two number two seeds play at approximately 7 p.m.
The 2024 Cumberland Falls Invitational Championship will feature the top teams out of both pools, and will tip off at approximately 8:30 p.m.
