Earthquake felt in tri-county area

An earthquake that originated about 8 miles west of Whitesburg, KY early Saturday afternoon was felt by residents in the tri-county area.

According to the U.S. Geological Survey Earthquakes Hazard Program, the tremor happened about 12:08 p.m. Saturday. It’s epicenter was about 1.1 kilometers deep. It was the only earthquake reported in Kentucky at the time.
