Jonathan David Mahan died on January 25, 2018, after a struggle with depression and alcoholism.
John was born on October 18, 1982, and named after his maternal grandfather, John Hudgens.
He was the second child for Delmar and Donna Mahan; he joined older brother, Josh and was later joined by younger sister, Joanna.
John graduated from Whitley County High School in 2001, where he played basketball and baseball for the Colonels. He graduated from the University of Kentucky in 2005 with a degree in biology and went on to attend the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry, graduating in 2009 with a Doctor of Dental Medicine degree.
John married Jessica Haynes on April 20, 2014. They lived in Melber, Kentucky, and welcomed twins, Patrick Michael and Isla Mae, on November 17, 2016.
John described Patrick and Isla as the best things that ever happened to him. Professionally, John practiced at Bohle Family Dentistry in Paducah, Kentucky. He later opened a private practice, Mahan Family Dentistry, in La Center, Kentucky. John enjoyed fishing and playing his guitar. He was a University of Kentucky Wildcat basketball fan and had a quick sense of humor.
At John’s request, there will be no funeral service. Instead, his family will celebrate his life on his birthday at the family cemetery on Goldens Creek. Any stories or memories you have to share about him would be the best gifts you could give our family.
