Joseph Donald Faulkner — affectionately known as J’Don — passed away peacefully on April 21, 2025, in the comforting presence of family and love. Born on June 24, 1936, J’Don lived a full and extraordinary life, defined by boundless creativity, heartfelt compassion, and an unwavering dedication to his family, community, and church.
A true renaissance man, J’Don embraced many roles throughout his life — schoolteacher, artist, choral director, musician, and businessman. He had a remarkable gift for storytelling, often holding court with tales that captivated every ear in the room. Whether through a heartfelt song, a brushstroke on canvas, or simply his radiant presence, J’Don brought light and energy wherever he went. He poured his soul into everything he did, leaving a lasting impression on all who had the joy of knowing him.
J’Don made his home in Bonita Springs, Florida, Bowling Green, and Williamsburg, Kentucky, where he was deeply rooted in all his communities. His warmth, generosity, and spirit created a legacy of love that will live on for generations.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Cathy Faulkner; his son, Greg Faulkner, and Greg’s partner, Ed Zablan; his daughter, Donna Kay Minnich, and her husband, Chris Minnich; and his two treasured granddaughters, Lilly and Chloe Minnich.
J’Don leaves behind a broad community of friends who will remember him for his kindness, quick wit, and thoughtful presence.
J’Don’s life will be remembered through the stories he told, the songs and laughter he inspired, and the paintings he so passionately created. His memory lives on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
J’Don is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Dorothy Faulkner; his three brothers, Vernon (Dorothy) Faulkner, Harold (Wilma) Faulkner, and Clyde (Bobbie) Faulkner; Deloris (Everett) Rains; and a grandson, Camden Minnich.
A memorial service to celebrate J’Don’s life was held at First Baptist Church of Williamsburg, Kentucky on Saturday, April 26.
