KBC Blood Drive on Feb. 3

Date:

The Kentucky Blood Center (KBC) is urging local residents to help save lives this winter by donating blood at an upcoming community blood drive at the University of the Cumberlands (UC).

Winter months are particularly challenging for KBC, as inclement weather often leads to blood drive cancellations and lower donor turnout.

Proactive community donations help maintain a safe and steady blood supply for local patients, even during severe weather.

The blood drive at University of the Cumberlands will take place from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 3.

The KBC bloodmobile will be stationed at the Boswell Building on the UC campus, located at 7327 College Station Dr., in Williamsburg.

Those who give blood at the drive will receive a “Team Donor” long-sleeve shirt, a nod to the 2026 Winter Olympics, and a $5 Starbucks gift card. All items are while supplies last.

Every donation made through KBC stays local, supporting patients at over 70 hospitals across Kentucky.

Blood donors must be at least 17 years old (16 with parental consent), weigh at least 110 pounds, be in good health, show a photo ID, and meet additional requirements. Sixteen-year-old donors must have a signed parental permission slip, available at kybloodcenter.org.

Appointments are preferred, but walk-ins are welcome. To schedule a donation, visit kybloodcenter.org or call (800) 775-2522.

KBC is the largest independent, full-service, nonprofit blood center in Kentucky, and has been saving local lives since 1968. KBC provides services in 90 Kentucky counties and has donor centers in Lexington, Louisville, Frankfort, Pikeville, Somerset, and the Tri-County area (Corbin).
