Prosecutors have recommended a three-year prison sentence for a London man, who pleaded guilty on Aug. 18 to fleeing from police in a vehicle while he was in possession of a drug in 2023.
Emanuel Hoskins, 51, of Cassidy Road, pleaded guilty to charges of first-degree fleeing or evading police, first-degree wanton endangerment, and first-degree possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), according to court documents.
Prosecutors agreed to recommend a three-year prison sentence on each count, which will all be served at the same time (concurrently) for a total sentence of three years in prison.
On Aug. 27, Hoskins knowingly and unlawfully failed to obey signals from the Corbin Police Department to stop his vehicle while in an attempt to elude law enforcement officials, and wantonly – with manifest indifference to the value of human life – engaged in conduct, which created a danger of death or serious physical injury to persons on the roadway, according to his indictment.
As part of the plea agreement, prosecutors agreed to dismiss a first-degree persistent felony offender charge against Hoskins. Hoskins had three prior convictions in Laurel Circuit Court in connection with 2007, 2013 and 2019 cases, his indictment stated.
Judge Paul Winchester scheduled formal sentencing in the case for Oct. 20.
