Laurel County Sheriff’s deputies say three children were in trailer in the Keavy area in which methamphetamine was being made.
According to Sheriff Fred Yaden, Det. Brad Mitchell and Deputy Jason Back responded to a tip Tuesday afternoon of a meth making operation on Farrah Lane and arrested Daniel Hatter, Walter Powers and Anthony Powers.
Yaden stated that when Mitchell and Back arrived at the residence, they saw an unidentified suspect in the window. When the suspect noticed them, they reported he went into a different room. They also noticed an open window in the trailer.
Mitchell and Back knocked on the door, but reported it took several minutes before someone answered. While waiting, they stated they could see someone picking up various items and throwing them into a closet.
Once inside, Mitchell and Back reported finding numerous components used in the manufacture of methamphetamine scattered throughout.
Yaden stated while the juveniles, ages 2, 12 and 14, were not in the trailer at the time, they had been there the previous night.
Hatter Walter Powers and Anthony Powers were each charged with manufacturing methamphetamine. Walter and Anthony Powers were both charged with controlled substance endangerment to a child. In addition, deputies served three outstanding warrants from Whitley County on Anthony Powers.
