Special events planned to honor local veterans

Veterans Day is coming up on Nov. 11, and numerous local groups are planning events to honor those who have served in the military.

 

Corbin school events

Corbin Primary School will hold a Veterans Drive-Thru Parade on Nov. 11, starting at 9:30 a.m., and asks attendees to enter the main front entrance.

Corbin Elementary School will hold a Veterans Day breakfast from 7:15 – 8:15 a.m. on Nov. 11 in the cafeteria.

Parents are asked to RSVP by visiting the website https://forms.gle/5Lhqhto4qzyPsXrz9, in which you will list your child’s name, the veteran’s name, branch of service, division served, relation to the student, conflict or war served, and upload a picture of the veteran.

Corbin Middle School is doing a presentation of photos and information on Nov. 11 at 9:30 a.m. The deadline for submission is Friday, Nov. 7. No late submissions will be accepted.

The Google Drive link to insert a photo of a veteran from your family can be found on the school’s Facebook page.

Corbin High School will be doing a presentation for Veterans on Nov. 11 at 11 a.m. in the gym.

 

Williamsburg school events

The Williamsburg Independent School will be hosting a special breakfast on Nov. 11 for veterans at 8 a.m., followed by a celebration in the school gym at 9 a.m. to thank those who have served our country.

 

Whitley County school events

Whitley County High School will be hosting a special breakfast on Nov. 11 for veterans at 8 a.m., made by culinary students. Afterwards, there will be an assembly in the gym led by JROTRC cadets at 9 a.m.

There will be a sign-in sheet when attendees arrive.

 

Williamsburg Gospel Barn

Williamsburg Gospel Barn is having a Veterans Day celebration on Nov. 8 at 5 p.m.

The celebration will feature John Westling from Greenville, TN, from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.

Speakers will include veteran David Newsome and veteran Thomas Corder of McCreary County.

Open mic begins at 4 p.m.

Extension Office event

The Whitley County Cooperative Extension Office will host its Veterans Day celebration on Nov. 11 with a free chili dinner at 5:30 p.m., located at 4275 N HWY 25W in Goldburg.
