Whitley County schools will start one week later this fall

The Whitley County Board of Education presented the February Above and Beyond Award to Whitley County High School employee Sheila Davis.

Whitley County students and teachers will be getting an extended summer vacation this summer.

During its monthly meeting Thursday, the Whitley County Board of Education unanimously approved the school calendar for the 2017-2018 school year, which pushes the school start date for students to Aug. 22, 2017, which is one week later than the start date this current school year.
