Whitley County will host its first annual Music & Mud Festival on Oct. 16-18 at the Whitley County Fairgrounds located at 860 Savoy-Clear Creek Road in Williamsburg.
The three-day event will feature camping, a demolition derby, a mud bog, and a full lineup of local musicians.
According to Whitley County Judge Executive Pat White, Jr., the idea came from blending the county’s past post-fair concerts with the popular events, such as demolition derby and mud bog.
“We had a music festival out there for several years after the fair, and we had a lot of people interested in doing another demolition derby and mud bog,” White said. “We decided to combine the two.”
The musical lineup for the festival is full of local and regional musicians.
Thursday will be Gospel Night, featuring Mountain View, Reed Elliotte, the Wyatt Family, and Straight Creek. Friday will highlight Bluegrass, featuring performances from the Williamsburg Gospel Barn house band, Arianna and the Bourbon Britches, Kentucky Just Us, and Tidalwave Road. Finally, Saturday is Country/Southern Rock Day, with performances by the Williamsburg City School Choir, Dalton Dailey, Trey Bryant, Eight Daze Sober, Chad Rogers, Moonlight Mile, and County Wide.
The demolition derby is scheduled for Friday at 6 p.m., while the mud bog will kick off on Saturday at 3 p.m.
Camping spots with water and electric hookups are available for $40 per night, and includes two passes to all festivities if reserved by Aug. 30. A $75 per night fee will include six passes.
Admission at the gate will be $10 per day, or $25 for a weekend pass.
Food vendors will also be on site, and organizers hope to create a family-friendly atmosphere with plenty of opportunities to enjoy the fairgrounds.
