A Williamsburg man has been cited to federal court for cutting timber in Daniel Boone National Forest.
Steven S. Gibson was cited to appear stemming from an incident on Oct. 15.
According to the citation issued by U.S. Forest Service Officer Hershal Neal, the theft occurred in the New Liberty/ Bear Wollow Road area of McCreary County.
U.S. Forest Service Officer James Hoskins was able to identify Gibson as one of the suspects.
After making contact with Gibson at his home, Hoskins issued him with the violation notice and order to appear in U.S. District Court in London.
At the initial appearance on Dec. 14, U.S. Magistrate Judge Hanly A. Ingram appointed an attorney to represent Gibson.
The initial appearance was continued until Jan. 25.
Court officials noted there is a second, as yet unnamed, co-conspirator in the case, who has yet to be charged.
