Williamsburg man killed after stepping in front of train

On Saturday at approximately 4:54 p.m. the Whitley County 911 Center received a call from a CSX Railroad employee reporting a person has stepped in front of a south bound train and had been struck.

Williamsburg Police Department officers Brandon White and Elijah Hunter were dispatched to the scene loacted between the Main Street crossing and Florence Avenue. Officers along with the Whitley County Coroners Office were able to identify the victim as Steven G. Dizney, 21, of North 125 North 6th Street Williamsburg.

The preliminary investiogation shows that Dizney left his residence located at 125 North 6th Street walking to the video store and library in the downtown area of Williamsburg.

The victim was wearing an IPOD with headphones and according to the train conductor, Dizney walked onto CSX property and stepped directly into the path of the South bound train.

Dizney was pronounced dead on the scene by Whitley County Deputy Coroner Jerry Croley. Officer Brandon White is continuing the investigation and will be reviewing the train video. Officer White was assisted on the sceneby Officer Elijah Hunter, Kentucky State Police Trooper Les Moses, the Williamsburg Fire Department, and the Whitely County Coroners Office.
