Truck crashes through bridge, falls onto railroad tracks

Date:

A truck driver was seriously injured Wednesday morning after his truck went off of the wood bridge over the railroad tracks on Ky. 1223 and fell onto the tracks.

Laurel County Sheriff’s deputies and emergency personnel were called to the scene at approximately 1:20 a.m.

Deputy Gilbert Acciardo, the department’s public affairs officer, stated that the tractor-trailer truck loaded with wood crashed through the railing and tumbled over before coming to rest across the track.

“Deputies had to notify CSX to halt all traffic while the tractor-trailer was removed,” Acciardo stated.

The driver, identified as Daniel Lynch, 51, of Clinton Township, Michigan, was taken by ambulance to St. Joseph Hospital in London.

Lily Volunteer Fire Department, London Laurel Rescue Squad and Ambulance Inc. of Laurel County also responded to the scene.
