Corbin Police are searching for the person(s) responsible for cooking meth at and setting fire to an abandoned home at 419 Idaho Street Thursday night.
The Corbin Fire Department was called to the home about 7:15 p.m. According to Chief Barry McDonald, the house had been empty for several years and had no gas or power supply, but in one of the bedrooms, firefighters found a mattress and candle.
Firefighters were able to contain the fire to the one bedroom, noting it appeared to have started when the candle set the mattress on fire.
In addition, six one-step meth labs were found, some of which were still active, according to Corbin Police. However, no one was at the scene.
The Laurel County Division of Public Safety was called to the scene to secure the meth labs.
McDonald said it was initially determined the house was owned by an individual in Lexington who learned of the fire upon hearing the report on television. However, the house belongs to Stephanie Robertson of Corbin
Corbin Police Detective William Rose is investigating. The individual(s) face charges of manufacturing methamphetamine and third-degree arson.
