Escalating debt on a 5,000-seat exposition center in south Corbin piled up $3 million higher Monday as the city's Board of Commissioners agreed to borrow the additional amount to help pay some unexpected costs connected to the project.
A Corbin Schools bus driver, on the hot seat after leaving a child on his bus alone for about 45 minutes in late April, has been formally reprimanded and was suspended for five days following a final decision on the matter by school district Superintendent Ed McNeel last week.
Following heavy rains and flash flooding over the weekend and early this week, Corbin Mayor Willard McBurney officially declared the city in a "state of emergency" Wednesday afternoon and is asking for help from state officials regarding clean up efforts.
