Corbin’s Olivia Jones once made a name for herself on the soccer field by denying goals as a three-year starting goalkeeper for the Lady Hounds. These days, she is all about obtaining goals as a fast-rising audio production assistant working for major networks such as NBC and ESPN. Recently, Jones received an Emmy Award for her contributions to the production of the 2023 NFL Draft, which was held in Kansas City, Mo. She served as an audio assistant on a team that was recognized by the National Academy of Arts and Sciences in the category of “outstanding technical team studio.” Jones is a 2018 graduate of Corbin High School. Whitley County High School senior Chris Cureton is a true renaissance man. He is a baseball player, a bass fisherman, he’s the quarterback of the Colonel football team, and he is a trained welder. Corbin High School celebrates opening of new athletic commons area Monday

Earlier this week, the brand new athletic commons area at Corbin High School was officially unveiled to the community. Regular season district play wrapped up for coverage area teams in week 10. The Williamsburg Yellow Jackets completed an undefeated run against district opponents, winning their fifth straight game with a 38-0 shutout victory over the visiting Harlan Green Dragons. Will Freeman and Ethan Mott are the two outgoing senior players on this year’s Corbin High School boys golf team. A pair of shutouts in Williamsburg highlight this week's area high school football action. The Whitley County Colonels were thinking upset when they hosted the Corbin Redhounds, but they were never able to get anything going as the Hounds dominated all facets of the game en route to a 49-0 victory. With the win, Corbin improves to 7-1 on the year. The Colonels fall to 4-4.
