Whitley County Volleyball Coach David Halcomb has stepped down. Alicia Whitworth will take over as head coach of the Lady Colonels with Fawn Greer serving as her assistant.

When Williamsburg senior Raymond Surber was a freshman he played both baseball and ran track for the Yellow Jackets. But the love of running won out during his junior year and he focused only on Track and Field.

Who is your favorite, Adam or Kris? They are the final two on American Idol. My daughter Ashley picked Adam many weeks ago and she has some of his recordings. I'll admit I'm not that big of a fan, but in the few times I've seen the show I'll agree that Adam has big star quality.

Gas prices, up 70 cents a gallon

In the last week gasoline prices in the local area have risen as much as 55 cents a gallon and some even more. Prices locally are now above the national average. I don't ever recall this happening. What is going on? There is very little information as to why. Why isn't there some government agency regulating this assault on us?

Here they go again and why? Gas prices have jumped 20 cents a gallon in the past two days. The price for a barrel of oil has risen slightly but not enough to justify the big increase. People everywhere are asking why the increase.....It is worse in Lexington where gas is about 25 cents a gallon more than it is here....Planning that vacation...they see you coming and you'll pay more

Corbin has been blessed with talent on the tennis court for decades. That tradition continued when Lance Freeman, Lee Crawford, Nick Huff and Krishna Patil entered middle school. They have worked their way through the program and are seniors this year at CHS.
