It was a strange night for high school football Friday, with severe weather impacting many contests and one area team securing a victory via forfeit.
Williamsburg was ready to host their season home opener in week 3 on Alumni Night and Homecoming Night, but a late cancellation by Frankfort resulted in the Yellow Jackets improving to 2-1 on the season via forfeit. Next week, the team is scheduled to go back on the road to compete at Sayre.
Across town, the Whitley County Colonels were struggling against visiting Rockcastle County. The Rockets came into Colonel Stadium and secured a 48-20 victory, dropping Whitley to 1-2 on the season. The Colonels will play at South Laurel in week 4.
The Corbin Redhounds are still perfect on the year after traveling to Lexington Friday and defeating Bryan Stations, 7-0, in a game that was cut short due to severe storms that blew through the area. Next week, the Hounds will travel to Somerset to face the also-undefeated Pulaski County Maroons.
Finally, the Lynn Camp Wildcats were defeated in a competitive game against visiting Knott County Central Friday night. After a 36-30 loss, the Cats are now 2-1 overall. They will host Thomas Walker, VA next week.
